So It Begins...

In 2018, while the twins were spending their summer in Florida, teh hubz and I decided to make the most of our kid-less time. We made all sorts of plans of things we were going to do in our first summer alone in our new home of Pittsburgh. We were going to go dahntahn and check out the sights. We were going to eat at all the restaurants we couldn't afford as a family of four, but could as a duo. We were going to get up early on the weekends and go to all the yard sales and thrift stores.

After a couple of weeks, we realized that we were going to do exactly zero of the things we had planned. Not wanting to have a completely lame summer, we decided to have "The Summer of Ice Cream!" It seemed easy enough. Just google "ice cream near me" and head over to a new one every week. Well, weeks turned into days and over the course of 6 weeks we hit 16 different local establishments. The summer ended, the kids returned, and...we never really stopped checking out new places.

With the kids home, we took them out to some of our favorite places. When we finished introducing them to our favorites, we started googling "ice cream near me" again and kept the summer alive.

For the last few months I have been wanting to get this blog started so we can share with other people, besides our kids, some of our favorite places. Ricky will be contributing as well with his take on things. Eventually, we will be coming up with a scale to fairly compare the different shops, but that'll be another day.

I'm debating on whether or not I want to go back and write blogs about the places we went to last summer based on our experience at the time or if I want to take this as an excuse to go to all 16 of those places again over the coming months. Maybe I'll just do one entry for last summer with small paragraphs summarizing each place and our thoughts. I'll have to think about this one.
